This month’s Saturday SEND Family Social was a bug-tastic success with a Mini Beast theme that delighted children and grown-ups alike! We were thrilled to welcome back the wonderful Carrie from Rent a Beast, who brought along her fascinating collection of mini beasts. Whether brave enough to hold them or happy to simply observe, the children were captivated. Carrie’s knowledge of all things creepy-crawly is second to none, and it was fantastic to see how much the children learned (and how many questions they had!).

Our craft tables were just as lively, with colourful sun catchers and a whole range of bug-themed colouring activities. Ladybirds, butterflies, beetles – you name it, we coloured it!

A special shout-out goes to Jordon, who celebrates his birthday on Monday – Happy Birthday, Jordon! A big thank you to his lovely Grandma, who baked and decorated delicious cupcakes for everyone to enjoy. Unsurprisingly, they didn’t last long – everyone agreed they were absolutely yummy!

It was brilliant to see every corner of the centre buzzing with activity. Alongside our usual spaces, the sensory garden was back in action – complete with the sandpit (yes, we may have had to cut open the lock after losing the key, but it was worth it!). The siblings room became a sensory circuits zone, complete with table football and giant Connect Four, while the gaming room was officially back online. Just a reminder: parent supervision is required in all areas to keep everyone safe and happy.

We also featured equipment from the sensory resource library, giving families a hands-on opportunity to try out new sensory tools in a relaxed and supportive setting.

This brilliant session was made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of The Antelope Darts Fundraiser, whose January event helped fund this month’s activities. We’re so grateful for their support – thank you!

We can’t wait to see you all again next month for more fun, learning, and laughter.
