Meet our Board
We have an independent Board with a calibre and breadth which adds real value to Ruby’s. The Board provides oversight and governance separation to provide assurance to any funders that money they provide will be spent within a robust governance framework.

Andy Pear, Chair
Businessman with various business interests. Extensive knowledge in the medical supplies industry and the restaurant industry. Current interests include numerous restaurants across Cheshire East. Sits on the board of directors for various organisations and trusts including the East Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, Congleton Learning Alliance, and The William Dean Trust.

Emma Farr, Specialist interest in governance
Clinical Team Lead physiotherapist for the MOD, rehabilitating members of the armed forces. Local to the area and mum to two girls who have visited Ruby’s Centre on many occasions. Has personal experience of living with chronic illness. Passionate that children of every ability should have the same opportunities available to them and combines this passion with extensive clinical experience.

John Stewart, Treasurer
CEO of Senior Areospace Bird Bellows since 2016. Mechanical Engineer and Consultant. John is also a former Mayor of Bollington. Alongside role on the board at Ruby’s, is also a director at East Cheshire Chamber of Commerce.

Carol Braniff, Specialist interest in people
An experienced HR Professional of 30+ years Carol has worked in a wide range of organisations at strategic and operational level. Carol is a Head of People at Reliance Medical, a Lecturer in Human Resource Management at Chester University and is passionate about enabling people to achieve. She enjoys blending people management practice and contemporary research to help make a difference and is currently undertaking a Doctorate specialising in job-related confidence to improve performance. Carol brings these interests and expertise to her role as Board member at Ruby’s Fund.

Adrian Swindells, Specialist interest in income generation and fundraising
Retired electrical and electronic engineer, started his own company in 1992 selling technology solutions to SME & other large companies. He built the business up to £4m and sold it to a Swedish conglomerate in 2018. Has considerable business experience to assist Ruby’s. Alongside position within the board is also a foundation governor at Mossley C of E Primary School.

Matthew Lewis, Specialist interest in facilities
Founded Arkhi Architects and surveyors in 2010. The company has delivered projects as diverse as residential, hospitals, mental health units and industrial from design to completion. Also tutors at Liverpool University. Lives locally to Ruby’s with wife and two young boys who have regularly accessed the services Ruby’s has to offer.

Dawn Brown, Specialist interest in operations
A Regional Service Manager at Dementia UK, previously a Carers Service Manager in Cheshire with 16 years’ experience working in the third sector. Dawn is passionate about voluntary organisations and statutory services working together to deliver much needed, quality support for families to live and stay well.
