This February, Ruby’s is trialing a new way of running open play sessions. We’re removing the need to book our open sessions which means that you can just come along, until we reach capacity. SEND sessions remain bookable so we can keep the numbers controlled and you know you’ll definitely have a spot.
These FAQs explain what’s changing and will help you plan your visit.
Do I need to book?
Booking is not needed for open play – you can simply walk in during session times
SEND sessions remain booking only and will continue as normal.
This week’s schedule is as follows (click for larger pdf):
How much does it cost?
All of our sessions are Pay What You Can. A £2 donation per child is suggested, but families are encouraged to contribute what works best — there is no pressure.
What does ‘Sensory Friendly’ mean?
Our sensory‑friendly sessions include:
– Access to the sensory room
– Sensory lights on in the café
– A calmer, more inclusive environment
These sessions are suitable for all families, and especially supportive for:
– SEND families unable to attend other sessions
– Children who have graduated from Little Ruby’s
What if it’s busy when we arrive?
Ruby’s team will always do their best to welcome everyone. If the space reaches a safe capacity, staff may need to manage numbers to keep the environment comfortable and supportive.
When are you busy and quiet?
As a general rule we usually see busy times on:
– Monday morning
– Friday morning (These coincide with My Babytime classes upstairs)
Quieter times are usually:
– Afternoon sessions (13.30–15.30)
– Early in any session, shortly after opening
Can families use the café?
Yes. The café is open for families to enjoy before, during, or after sessions, subject to availability.
Is this a permanent change?
Not at the moment. This is a trial, and Ruby’s will review how it works using family feedback.
How can families share questions or feedback?
Please speak to a member of the Ruby’s team during a visit or contact Ruby’s through the usual channels. Feedback is always welcome.
