At Ruby’s we recognise the value of volunteers in all of the work we do. This could be welcoming families to the centre, helping in our café and sensory centre, gardening, raising funds and awareness, maintaining our shop, helping with craft activities at groups or wrapping gifts at Christmas. There’s a role for everyone at Ruby’s that can be as little as an hour once a month to several hours a week. Our wonderful team of volunteers give freely of their time and they are very much appreciated.

We also run a volunteering project which is specifically for young people aged 16-25 years who have an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan). We hope this project will reduce barriers and perceptions of special educational needs and disabilities and will demonstrate the value that a young person with SEND can contribute to their local community. This project is grant funded by Cheshire Community Foundation.

Volunteering at Ruby’s provides an opportunity to:

  • Meet new people, gain experience, improve self-confidence and learn new skills
  • Connect with your local community
  • Make a difference to the lives of others

Volunteers are given initial and ongoing training and are DBS checked at an appropriate level.
In some circumstances we are able to offer work experience placements to Year 10 and above.
