Since lockdown Ruby’s Fund have been busy supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities and their families across Cheshire East.
Thanks to grant funding from Cheshire East Brighter Ideas project, Ruby’s Fund has been able to create a bespoke case management tool which encompasses all of the services, facilities and support Ruby’s Fund provides. Thriving Families was launched at the beginning of the pandemic and to date have 200 individuals registered.
Ruby’s Fund has been supporting families with weekly goody bags delivered by our wonderful volunteers. The goody bags all had a theme and had an associated zoom session which recipients could join in. We have provided sessions for children with additional needs, their siblings and parent carers.
We adapted our working model and we have continued to deliver sessions and services in new ways. These include weekly parent carer lunch clubs by Zoom, telephone counselling and wellbeing calls, social prescribing and signposting, delivery of anxiety management and wellbeing workshops via Zoom.
The purpose of our service delivery especially during COVID 19 has been to support families of children with additional needs. Our main focus was to reduce social isolation, support those who are struggling with their mental health and wellbeing and to provide support with the delivery of our sessions and goody bags.
