As part of Ruby’s Funds plan to develop and improve the services we deliver we have been asking our families what services they need or want.
As a result of our findings we have written the Mind Your Body project which will promote and improve parents, carers and children’s emotional health and physical wellbeing by providing a varied timetable of sessions and events
Parents and Carers told us that they wanted to feel happier and healthier in themselves and within their family unit, that their children regularly displayed signs of stress and frustration and that they were concerned as a family they didn’t exercise enough.
To achieve our goals we will work in partnership with our local pharmacy and community partners to run engagement events about weight management, smoking cessation, healthy eating and alcohol awareness.
We will run health and well being workshops for our parent carers which will be led by trained therapists. Activities will include Nordic walking, mindfulness and art and wellbeing sessions. For the children e will run a mindfulness and relaxation course, to support their mental and emotional wellbeing.
Finally we plan to deliver free exercise classes in the summer holidays to local children who don’t access sport outside of school.
We aim to reach a minimum of 50 families or individuals with this timetable of activities. We were successful in receiving a cheque for £2290 from Cheshire East Participatory Budget to run these sessions.
Details to follow.
