WEAR RED FOR RUBY’S FUND DAY

was on Friday 13th May 2011

Ruby’s Fund wrote to over a hundred local schools, pre-schools, nurseries and businesses to ask them to participate in Wear Red for Ruby’s Fund Day to celebrate our anniversary. We have started to include their photographs and stories. Watch this space for the amounts raised.

We would love to see your photos of the day. Please send them with a fews words about your day. With your permission we may use them on our website and next newsletter.

Charity Car Wash 24th July 2011 at Heath Farm

Heath Farm was the venue for a fund raising car wash. The event was run by 14 volunteers for Ruby’s Fund, which included staff from Heath Farm. Approx 45 cars were cleaned in 4 hours. The car wash raised £214.30. Customers of Heath Farm enjoyed having their Sunday lunch whilst our volunteers cleaned their cars. It proved so popular that the car wash will return!! Well done and many thanks to all concerned.

Ruby’s Fund Summer Ball 2011

On Friday 8th July 2011 the first Ruby’s Fund Summer Ball took place at The Lion and Swan Hotel in Congleton.  The event was attended by 100 people and raised a staggering £2,300 for us.

The night started with a complimentary glass of wine kindly donated by local shops including, Marks and Spencer, Tesco, Somerfield, Bargain Booze: Biddulph Road, The Cooperative: St Johns Road, The Cooperative: Bromley Road and Threshers.

Guests were then entertained by local magician Tom Pear who dazzled everyone with his close up magic while a buffet was served and raffle tickets were sold by Miss Teen Cheshire, Helen MacGregor.

The night then proceeded with the raffle and auction and finished with a disco.  Raffle prizes included Sparkling Wine kindly donated by Premier: Cross Lane, Afternoon Tea for Two at the Midland Hotel, Fishing for two donated by Moreton Fisheries, local honey donated by L’Endroit Restaurant and a weeks Gym Pass from FX Leisure.  Auction prizes included a round of golf for 4 donated by Astbury Golf Club, Lunch for 2 at Pecks, 2 day spa pass for 2 at Cottons Hotel and Spa, a signed Lancashire County Cricket Club cricket bat and Jewellery donated by Birch Jewellers.

Alsager Triathlon Superstar Thomas aged 7 -2/07/11

Thomas successfully completed his very first triathlon for Ruby’s Fund  at Alsager on 2/07/11. He had to swim, run and cycle on his own. He has been very kindly sponsored and supported by his friends and family on the virginmoneygiving site. Well done Thomas we are all VERY VERY proud of you!

The Celery Stall!!

Julie Celerier and family kindly offered to run a stall at their local school summer fair selling Ruby’s Fund merchandise. The event proved very successful and raised £164.50 from sales. Keep it up The Celeries and the market traders belt will be coming your way!!

The third Teddy Bears Picnic was held in Congleton Park. It was organised by My Beartown. Ruby’s Fund had a cake stall which proved very successful and sold out. We also sold some of our jute bags which are proving very successful. The event raised almost £100!!

Pimms & Promises evening at The Grange 25/06/11

A successful evening was had at The Grange, North Rode as the Tudor-Evans hosted a Pimms & Promises evening. The evening was in aid of North Rode Church Tower (70%) and Ruby’s Fund (30%). The entertainment included magic from The Great Wildini, a raffle and Adam Partridge was extremely entertaining whilst conducting the very successful auction. There was a superb hog roast, buffet and bar. The evening raised over £6000 with £1800 going to Ruby’s Fund.
