Kilimanjaro For Ruby’s Fund

Kilimanjaro for Ruby’s Fund.

One sunny evening over a cocktail my husband hit me with the idea of a challenge he was hoping to do. “I would like to climb Kilimanjaro” were his words. The shock on my face must not have been as tangible as I thought as he continued with “Do you want to climb with me”.

So it began. After hours of researching we had found a company to climb with who would offer us all the help and support we needed.

The next step was to decide on the charity for which we wanted to raise the money for. Deciding on Ruby’s Fund was a no brainer, as a mother of two young children and a resident of Congleton I really couldn’t imagine a more worth while cause. We could also see for ourselves the difference the money we would raise would make.

In Jan 2012 our training began and after a positive meeting with members of the Ruby’s Fund committee, the news they would be happy for us to do the climb to raise money for the charity was welcomed with happiness and  as the trek finally became a reality.

We will be spending the next 10 months training hard and preparing for the enormous challenge ahead together with raising upwards of £8,000.

We have a number of fund raising ideas in mind so please keep your eyes and ears open and should you come across any of our fund raising events please help in any way you can. Anything great or small would be so gratefully received.

In the meantime if anyone would like to donate to our cause you can donate on line via our just giving page.

There are many wonderful people within the local community working hard to make the Ruby’s Fund dream a reality and we are just a couple trying to help them out.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog and I hope to

be in touch with a training and fund raising update very soon.
